He has been a tremendous success this year, as has Washington. His skill set is wide ranging, he is a determined winner, and he has toned down his intensity which both Antone and his father admit got the best of him at times in the past and challenged it in a positive direction. That said, if the coaches do consider another individual, I think Antone Byrd will be right up there. But he had such a tremendous performance last season, including that memorable everything-he-had effort in the state final against Tosa East, and if Memorial has success at state again, he will be hard for the coaches to pass over. Now, Memorial proved itself human with the recent loss to Madison East, and there have been some rumblings about Jeronnes future emanating from Madison. I just think all the marbles belong to Madison Memorials Jeronne Maymon at this point, as far as the Mr. Basketball award this season seeing as they gave the award to DeMarcus Phillips last season? Do you think Antone Byrd from Milwaukee Washington has a shot at winning the Mr. Dave had no answer for my question on this point last night, but I would guess that he would strongly consider promoting Deb to the deputy director (No. Deb is more a consensus-builder her work on conference realignment honed those skills and is extremely competent as an administrator. Dave is more of a by-the-book, nuts-and-bolts, rule-book kind of guy, but he also understands and is driven by the deeper meaning and importance of athletics as an educational tool. From my somewhat limited contact with them over the years, both have distinctly different skill sets and strengths, and both are valuable to keeping the WIAA moving forward in these challenging times. I would have been happy with either Dave Anderson or Deb Hauser in the top spot at the WIAA.

Dave, thanks for your question on the WIAA. Who do you feel is the better qualified candidate for the WIAA post of Executive Director, Dave Anderson or Deb Hauser? Journal Sentinel preps editor Art Kabelowsky answered your questions in a chat Friday.
